Limited Reporting functionality in Meridian

The reporting is quite limited in the Meridian Power Web Client. Our customer would like produce PDF formatted reports, they would like to save the reports in the vault by default, and they would like to be able to restrict users from running reports on large numbers of documents (which would affect performance)

Brendan Greene Mar 21, 2018 In addition to this, we often need to schedule reports to run on a regular basis, is this something you are looking into?

Arjen Bos Mar 26, 2018 For more advanced reporting options, we have seen customer integrate the Explorer database to tools like PowerBI and SQL reporting We provide special views in the database to make this integration easier. Would that be an option for your customer?

Brendan Greene Mar 26, 2018 Hi Arjen, Not really as they would like the options to generate the reports ad-hoc from the client interface. The inbuilt PW reports are extremely generic and do not meet their requirements as they can be run across the whole vault, have no predefined scopes and are not saved to the vault automatically. They would also like the option to schedule the reports on a weekly basis and control this from the client. Hosted PowerBI and other BI tools like Tableau need actions by a user to export the data each time, so I don't see this as a good solution. The desktop versions need to be opened to refresh the data, and this is not automated. I have developed a scripted solution, but this has and will take a lot of time and effort to develop and test, but it is the only means of facilitating the creation of reports in the vault either manually or scheduled from the power web client. This is all using standard Meridian functions and should not be beyond the remit of BC to provide OOTB. Also this will not be standardisable across the full suite, such as Portal. Regards Brendan
