Open ms explorer folder after the download of a document.

The daily business of users is still to send documents to somebody. With sitecache it is very cumbersome to download a document, open a new MS Explorer window, navigate to BC Workspace, find the right folder...….

To make this easier, the MS Explorer should open and Show the Folder of the downloaded document.

You are correct. The suggestion works with Internet Explorer.

We can add a wish to add a similar functionality for other browsers.

Can you tell me what other browsers are used and are they more prevalent than IE?

    Thanks,

Only for active x. With side cache there is no option, isn't it?

    Thank you for your suggestion.

This action can be accomplished with Meridian today.

The short answer is to turn on the 'Open folder in Windows Explorer' in the Download Options.

    The long answer is:

    1. Log into Meridian Power Web client
    2. Access the Preferences in the <user name> menu
    3. Choose Document Transfer Options...
    4. In the Download Options dialog, check on the option to Open Folder in Windows Explorer

Note that this may cause two actions to occur.  Typically, if a user only downloads a single document, then they may want to open it in the editing applications.  For example when they download a drawing (.DWG) Meridian may already be configured to open the drawing in AutoCAD.  If this setting is also on, then Meridian will now open the drawing in AutoCAD and also open Windows Explorer to the parent folder of the document.
