We have a settings Datalist=1 on Meridian Power which allows users to type ahead values in a lookup list to jump to the desired values.

I do like the way it works:
The value you type acts as filter which does not filter only the start of the word but looks in the entire value.
So when typing a value this might be the end of a value in the list.

What after this is not so nice:
If you want to change an existing value you must first clear the value to make the full list visible again. This is not very user friendly I think.

Wish:

I'd rather say you need a filter field and a value field here and this must really also be possible to filter if a fixed list is connected.
