Getting away from ActiveX

It seems like Meridian Explorer and PowerWeb are stuck between HTML4 and HTML5.

ActiveX is considered by many to be 'obsolete' and can be replaced by HTML5 and modern browsers...

Many features in both Explorer and PowerWeb seem to depend on Active X, especially if we are not installing the integration app and site cache for casual explorer users.

Explorer works only in HTML5.

Active X only works in Internet Explorer.  IE  is meant to be used for 'legacy sites' and many companies GPO turns on compatibility mode for HTML4 support.

This makes it difficult to plan a consistent deployment strategy that is future proofed.

Please modernize so that Meridian PowerWeb and Explorer can be used in HTML5 without ActiveX with the full intended feature set, including Bulk download, all download options (open in file explorer),  draft print, compare, etc.

It would be great if any required integration app can run in the background (hidden) or not require an install.

Agreed and in particular as Edge will be the new IE, which does not support Active X, just like Chrome (and/or Firefox). Portal is the only app which operates well in Chrome, but several organizations only work in Chrome.
