In Explorer client 2020 there are now 2 Download Document buttons. One for the native and one for the Rendition. the Download Document (native) is displayed regardless of whether the user has the privilege or not. Also, it is displayed when no native documents are stored in the repository. This is adding confusion and an increase in service desk requests. It would be a far better user experience to only display the option if the user has the privilege and also that the native documents are published to the repository.
The PowerWeb client greys-out and hides buttons that a user doesn't have permission to use, the same design should be applied to Explorer Client for consistency and intuitiveness for the users.
The problem is that the buttons are not hidden when the user doesn't have the download privilege and because the button to download the native is called "Document Document" not "Download Native" users instinctively go for that one first and are presented a document is not available message.
According to the documentation the Download Native and Download Rendition buttons are part of the Secruity Permisssions. See:
