Please also apply this to Microstation drawings. Managing xrefs is difficult, but very important. All information is in the drawing, so use it to automate things. A DMS should help users.
The menu option 'References from File' doesn't work. It searches only in the local path and when Meridian doesn't find the xrefs it removes them while they are already in Meridian! So, Meridian does the opposite and creates problems instead of fixing them.
I disagree. You already have the technology to query the db to push/pull attribute data. All you need to do is add a query to the Block table to find unresolved blocks using SymbolTableRecord.IsResolved property. Synergis Adept does this and lists each referenced file and and has a command that lets you provide a substitute stored int the DMS. Autodesk's stand alone app, Reference Manager also does this.
I agree that "normally" this should have been done, but some users have not noticed this when checking files in. When working with files in AutoCAD and the xref has the full path stored, the file is found. But when you import it into the DMS, it is not found. Some of these have slipped through. It would be nice if Meridian could find these so that we can fix them.

Hi Ed,
Unfortunately it is not possible to find missing XREFS without opening the drawing and finding the missing XREFS in the CAD application.
Normally the XREFS are resolved during import or editing the drawing, which is part of the document creation, import and release process
