This document describes a new feature that users would like to have in both Meridian Server and Meridian Cloud. This feature is about the ability to tag documents with one or more keywords.
In an ideal word, each facility document should be indexed using the following properties:
A unique Location
A unique Discipline
Etc.
In the real world, things are not that simple: Some documents melt several disciplines and/or are related to more than on location.
For several business reasons, user would want to define different custom categories and having documents to belong to more than one.
Ideas to implement this features
Such a feature mut be useful for standard users who need to find documents, Contributors who need to affect keywords to documents, and also for administrators who need to manage lists of values.
The feature must work without having to write any code nor script, to be also compatible with Meridian Cloud.
Let’s see how this feature should work for the different roles:
As a Meridian Explorer user (New Explorer)
As a Meridian Explorer User, I would like to filter a list of documents by selecting one ore more values. User would be able to choose between “And” and “Or” Boolean operators.
In the New Explorer, User add a filter by selecting the property that is managing keywords.
When opening the new filter, he can select one or several values and switch between “And” and “Or” operator.
As a Meridian Explorer User (Old version)
The feature already exists in this interface if the property is mapped to a keyword property in the repository.
Regarding the lifecycle of this version, it is perhaps not essential to adapt something here.
As a contributor
As a contributor, I would like to access to a keyword property and select one or more values (Without limits regarding the number of values selected, except if such a limit has been set by an Administrator).
As a contributor, I also would like the navigation views to be adapted to keyword properties. This means that a document could be displayed multiple times if it is related to more than one keyword.
As a contributor, I would like to add new values to the list if it has been authorized by an Administrator.
As an Administrator (Or tenant Administrator)
As an administrator, I would like to define keywords properties and attach theses properties to one or more document types.
As an administrator, I would like to manage the list of possible values for a keyword property:
Adding new values
Delete values à Must update all documents using this value
Rename value à Must rename the value for all documents using it
Freeze value à Value won’t be visible in the list, but existing documents using the value do not change.
As an Administrator, I would like to limit the number of keywords a contributor can select for a given document (0 = No limit).
As an Administrator, I would like to authorize (or not) contributors to add new possible values to a keyword property.
Keyword search is available in new Explorer as of Meridian Cloud 2022.1
