OPen an earlier version of a drawing should bring original XREF version as well

Submitted by Jeison Balbinot on behalf of Per Sævdal

Change Description:

When opening ACAD and XREF, if you open an earlier revision of an DWG with XREF to earlier revision of the XREF, in ACAD/Viewer it only shows the XREF of the latest revision in Meridian.

Expected result / Actual Result:

Meridian should load the same XREF version used on the drawing version, to keep track on the drawing. Please, check the documents attached.
Currently, when you load an older version of a document, it's loading the most updated version of the references.

Thank you again for the suggestion.

Please let me list several potential solutions and let us know which would work best.

Using renditions allows users to visualize the previous revision. This works well for visualization purposes, but not so well for cases where geometry needs to be ‘borrowed’ from previous designs and perhaps not for 3D.

Another option would be to select a specific revision of a parent file or assembly and export that state of files.

The third option would very temporary because it uses a feature which has already been deprecated. Users may use the PowerUser Client and open the vault in history mode.

Rudi Pieters Jan 23, 2019 For AutoCAD XRefs (as long as they have relative paths) this should work. Can you create a support call with more details (what client, what viewer)?

Per Sævdal Jan 29, 2019 Hi. Rudi. See support case 00665577, with more details, or contact me by phone/mail. This is shown in AutoVUE, and opened in AutoCAD with relative paths.

Hans van Koelen Feb 5, 2019 Hi Per/Rudi, I believe that this has worked in the past (with AMFS). With the introduction of Local Workspace the only way to get the right behavior is to work with Replacements. Grtz,

Hans Rudi Pieters Feb 11, 2019 Hi Hans, you are correct. The issue is that with the AMFS driver we could make the old XREF revision appear in the same folder location. In LWS we cannot do that.
