Hide Word Icon and Extension in Meridian Explorer

Meridian Explorer is used to search, retrieve, view and download PDF Renditions only. The Meridian Explorer user interface shows a Word icon and Word.docx extension in the user interface, whilst there is no native file available. This is confusing for the Meridian Explorer user

    Thanks for the clarification.

    From the user's perpective, if they see a PDF icon, then their expectation is that the downloaded file will be a PDF document.

    The problem is that the users expect a MS Word document when they see a MS Word icon, but when they download or view the document it turns out to be a rendered PDF document.

    Can you share with us which customers are asking for this functionality?

    The icon that displays the native authoring application may have value for users, to set expectations of what kind of file this is, for example an MS-Word procedure or report as opposed to a CAD diagram.
