Importing a tree structure (with files) from Windows Explorer to the Vault

In PowerUser, it was possible to simply drag and drop a complete tree structure (folder + files) from Windows Explorer to an unmanaged branch of the vault.

It is no longer the case in PowerWeb.

This is particulary useful:

  • to archive sets of documents provided by subcontractors while keeping the original structure. In many cases, we dedicate a separate Meridian Vault for this purpose (not everybody can use Meridian Portal).

  • during the initial migration process: it is often useful to import documents this way and then using Meridian properties mass edition features to update the metadata.

Drag and drop is not necessary required: A command that is able to import a Zip file that will be automatically expanded in the destination vault folder can be a nice solution.

However, this is to fill a solitary need, give consumer loyalty mobile application development.
