Ability to disable manual numbering option or at least default to Automatic
Currently creating a new doc defaults to Automatic while importing defaults to Manual. It should be possible to completely remove the manual numbering option and also to be able to enforce a default of Automatic.
There is no issue with having the manual numbering option as such, it is understood that there will likely be some cases where this is required. However, there is a very strong possibilty that someone importing a document into the system, will not change to AUTOMATIC if the default is MANUAL, resulting in an incorrectly named document. The ability to select a default value for this option would greatly reduce the risk of someone doing this.
Some use cases require the Manual numbering option. For example if you have a CAD drawing with external references using relative paths and names, where we need the file names to resolve the references. Manual numbering is also used for third-party vendor documentation that needs to keep the original name in case of manual updates.

Hi Nick,
When we make the default setting AUTOMATIC, we questions to be answered
Where do you want to store the original filename of the document, because automatic naming overwrites it?
How do you manage and resolve x-refs, if the files are automatically renamed?
Should this a setting that would be the default for a entire tenancy, or is it per document type / project type?
Who (which roles) can change this? (admin, document controller, project manager etc?)
Which actions are involved (New documents, import Documents, drag & drop, save-as, import packages?)
