Provide ability for batch downloads that do not require web client in Explorer
My customers would like to see a way for Explorer users to not have to use the web client install at all and to be more browser independent, especially when using PDFTron and only viewing renditions. There seems to be a feature in the PowerWeb that allows for the use of a parameter called UseHTMLProgressComponent. Could something like this be implemented for Explorer?
Its great that 2022R1 has the batch download. However, and releated to MER-I-338, there is an annoyance/bug when trying to download file sets that have a mix of files both with and without renditions. Basically it should still fail back to source file if there is no rendition. 2022R1 either warns and only downloads renditions even though native PDF source files are available, or worse fails silently.
can we confirm that this is in 2021R3?
seams to be 2021 :-(

I do not understand this, a single document is downloaded already with the browser, why not a batch. This can't be so hard to implement.
This is rather disappointing... I had actually assumed this was in 2020 (which we have not yet upgraded to yet).. This is becoming increasing unacceptable for our users in a premium, enterprise product.
Hi Don,
Development has the feature under consideration, but does not yet have it assigned to a specific release cycle.
Sorry that they news isn't more definitive.

Good point, while there are some workarounds to the source browser having to request subsequent files they are sometimes flaky or disabled due to security concerns. A multiple file section and zip archive download would certainly be acceptable to me.
Thank you again for the suggestion and additional comments.
Web browsers have the inherent limitation that they cannot download multiple files at one time.
One way to accommodate users download multiple files at the same time would be to allow the user to select several documents and select the download command.
In the background (on the server) Meridian would check of multiple files are selected, and if so, create an archive containing all the selected files and cause that single archive file to be downloaded.
Would such an approach address the requirements?

Don is referring to the fact you cannot bulk/batch download multiple files without the 'WebClient' "install" and using IE. It seems rather odd at this point you need to jump through all these hoops just to have the ability to select multiple files, or a virtual "directory" to download.
