Locked icon in WebAccess

Hi,

The locked icon in WebAccess does not exist. When a document is locked by another user in PowerWeb, a padlock is shown. In WebAccess, that icon does not exist so the visual information is lost (check the attached pictures). To check if the document is locked or not, it is necessary to access the stored properties of the document.

Implemeting this improvement, the user could check if the document is locked just looking at icon in the left of it without losing time checking its properties.

Regards.

    Hello,

Thank you for the extra information. This helps clarify the situation a little bit.

If I understand this correctly, the issues occurs when user A locks a document with the PowerUser Client which shows the lockpad icon. But, when user B uses the PowerWeb Client, it does not show the same lockpad icon ... and instead may show a red curled arrow. Also, the document is not locked by some system process, like rendering.

I'd like to ask a few more questions to clarify the "when" and the "how," so we can describe to development what is happening and how/when it's happening.

Can you help me understand how the first user locks the document (menu or command)?

Also, what business process is accomplished by locking the document?

Thank you again for taking the time to help me understand the issue.

    Hi Chris,

We know that the Web Client uses the same icons as the PowerUser Client. The thing is that the lockpad is not shown in the Web Client. As you can see in the image we have one user with the document assigned and, with another user, I have search that document in Web Client and PowerUser. In the PowerUser version the lockpad is shown while in the Web Client not. The file is just locked by one user, it was not sent to be rendered.

The idea is to implement this icon in the Web Client.

    Regards.

The Meridian PowerWeb Client uses the same icons to indicate the document workflow status as the thick client, the PowerUser Client.

The use of these icons is described in the Navigation view icons section of the User's Guide.

Also, hovering over the icon will display additional details such as the workflow status, the person assigned and if the documents is in use and by whom (or by what, like Rendition Server or Package). This information is also visible on the main ‘Document’ property page. See attached screen capture with mouse hovering over the icon, and also the same information highlighted on the ‘Document’ property page.

One case that might cause different icons to be shown in the web client and thick client is during the time that a rendition is being generated. The Rendition Server locks the document during this process and since the web client and thick client communicate to the server differently, they may display different icons for a short period of time.

Let me know if you have any additional questions or comments.
